The Folios Roadshow

We are looking forward to a very busy October/November when we will be heading up to Queensland to do a number of presentations.

We have also locked down some venues and dates for our Portfolio & Early Years Assessment workshops in Queensland.
The workshops run for 2 hrs and are completely free.
All participants will receive a 2009 ClassMon license and be set up to create ELR's and Folios for this year.

The Cairns dates are 50% full, so if you are considering coming along please register as soon as you can.
There is a limit of 3 teachers per school unless space permits more.

Each event will be broken into 2 parts. The first will be an introduction to some of the tools available to help with monitoring and assessment in the Early Years.
Next we will get our hands dirty. Teachers will set up their own class (student information) and record some observations. We will then produce learning records and digital portfolios.

We will also take a look at some tools that will help you with personal/teacher/student portfolios.

At the end of the day teachers will have all the skills & tools needed to....

Manage their class
  o Use one simple program to manage and track each student in your class
Manage worksamples
  o Learn to use tools that will help you manage digital content (Picasa, Video converters, File management...)
Record observations
  o Record your observations and input your worksamples with just a few clicks
Publish learning records
  o Publish all your student learning records with a single click
Produce student portfolios
  o Produce beautifully formatted digital portfolios with NO extra work

All participants will receive a free 2009 ClassMon license and be set up to create ELR's and Folios for this year. Participants are welcome (encouraged) to bring their own PC laptop so that we can get you up and running on your own machine.

ClassMon 1.0.0.8 update available - Fantastic new Slideshow feature

Enhancements in this version :
  1. New Slideshow Feature (turn on/off in Settings)
    You can now create picture slideshows with images, captions and music and include slideshows in student portfolios.
    A teacher can create an individual slideshow for each student or one slideshow can be associated with multiple students (the whole class).

  2. With this update we have also introduced automatic image resizing and compression. As you add images to ClassMon (from hi- resolution sources such as scanners and digital cameras) ClassMon will now auto compress them to save space.

Assessment of Children's Learning using ClassMon
and introducing
Foundations for Families, a new curriculum for 0 – 5s

ClassMon is a recently developed software program to create ePortfolios for Childcare, Pre Prep, Prep and the School Years. David Harris, ClassMon developer, will demonstrate this program and how it can be used to monitor and assess learning and development.
Foundations for Families is a new 0 - 5 curriculum, developed by Communities for Children, Brisbane. Speakers Curriculum Developer Geraldine Harris and Tegan Dohnt will guide us through the program and how it can be used across disciplines.

Building success: Rethinking access and engagement.

You can now use ClassMon to produce school reports 
 April 2009
One tool - many functions - Learning Record, Checklists, School Report, Portfolios...
With the addition of a title page on the Learning Record schools can now produce a formal school report that can be sent home to parents.


 
ClassMon being rolled out at Universities 
 April 2009
Over the next few weeks ClassMon is being introduced to pre-service teachers doing Early Childhood Education studies at James Cook University, Griffith University, the Australian Catholic University and the University of Southern Queensland.
This is a very exciting development for Folios International that will take ClassMon to a whole new level. To have so many fresh teachers using ClassMon, sharing rubrics and giving feedback will result in an even stronger product.
